From Gillsville, GA, this face jug is hand-made and signed by artist, Mike Craven. Featuring a brown drip glaze with large round blue eyes, this jug has a fun and eclectic look.
Mike Craven is a potter, located in Gillsville, GA. He is well-known for his ugly face jugs. Face Jugs or Ugly Face Jugs have been a part of Southern folk art since the 1800s coming primarily out of South Carolina, North Carolina, & Georgia. They've also found their way into the Appalachian sub-culture. There are multiple stories and folk lore surrounding them, but over the years they've become sought-after collectibles.
This jug measures approximately 7" x 7" x 10.5". Each jug is handmade and unique.
